J.Vardy EMBER
Cinematic LUT + PowerGrade
Warm skin. Cooler atmosphere. Dense, controlled colour.
A finishing look for skin you want to keep and air you want to feel.
Planned — development paused — not on sale
The intent
What EMBER is built to do
EMBER is planned around one problem: warmth that flatters skin usually drags the whole frame with it, and cooling the frame usually kills the skin.
The work is in separating those two decisions — holding skin warm and alive while atmosphere, shadow and distance go cooler and denser, without the image turning to mud.
- Warm, retained skinSkin tone held warm and dimensional rather than pushed orange.
- Cooler atmosphereAir, shadow and background separated from the subject by temperature, not by masking.
- Density without mudControlled contrast in the lower mids, so depth does not cost shadow detail.
- Restrained saturationColour that reads as finishing, not as a filter.
Before and after
The decision, side by side
On a colour product this comparison will always be more persuasive than the copy around it — which is exactly why it is not filled with someone else's footage in the meantime.
The package
What is included, and where it runs
Planned contents
Planned for the first release. The final contents are confirmed and published before EMBER goes on sale — nothing below is a commitment yet.
- Professional LUT files for the workflows confirmed at release
- An editable DaVinci Resolve PowerGrade
- A Quick Start guide
- A fuller usage guide
- A personal and commercial-use licence
Compatibility
Compatibility is still being tested. Supported Resolve versions, editions and platforms are published here once each one has actually been verified — not predicted.
In practice
How it is meant to be used
- 01
Balance first
EMBER is a finishing look, not a repair tool. Get exposure and white balance where you want them first.
- 02
Apply on its own node
Keeping the look on a dedicated node means you can dial it back without unpicking your grade.
- 03
Set the strength
Adjust to the shot rather than the pack. Different skin, different light, different amount.
- 04
Finish on top
Any shot-specific work — windows, vignettes, tracking — sits after the look, not inside it.
Resolve walkthrough
A real DaVinci Resolve screen recording — not yet filmed, so there is nothing to play.

Questions
Frequently asked
When is EMBER available?
Development is currently paused and no release date has been set. A date will only be published once work resumes and the product is finished and tested — not before.
Which versions of DaVinci Resolve will it support?
Compatibility is still being tested. Rather than guess, nothing is claimed here until each version, edition and platform has actually been verified.
What will it cost?
Pricing has not been set. It will be shown in Kenyan shillings and US dollars when it is.
Will there be a commercial licence?
A personal and commercial-use licence is planned. The exact terms are published in full before anything goes on sale.
Will there be a tutorial?
Yes — a real DaVinci Resolve screen recording. Not a reconstruction, and not a simulated interface.
